Puntarenas

This long thin province stretches along the Pacific coast, from the southern tip of The Nicoya Peninsula all the way down to Panama. It is about 1 and half hours away from San Jose. This area is close to where the ferry leaves if you're heading to beaches and small islands like Playa Naranjo, Santa Teresa, Mal Pais, Montezuma, San Lucas, Cedros and Jesuita. Other destination such as Cabo Blanco, Corcovado, Monteverde and Manuel Antonio are all reasonably close to the centrally located city. Jaco- Jacó is a coastal city, in the county of Garabito in Costa Rica's Puntarenas province. Located in the Central Pacific Region, on thepacific coast of Costa Rica. Jacó is approximately one hour by car from San José and one hour North of Manuel Antonio National Park. Jaco has a population of apx. 10,000 residents. Temperature is 85F during the day and 70F at night year round. the "dry season" from dec. to april, celebrated as summer despite being north of the equator. the "rainy season" last the rest of the year. the public tap water is free of parasites and safe to drink. Diseases such as malaria, yellow fever and dengue fever are nonexistent, or extremely rare. Jacó lies between several mountains, and is neighbored by the beaches of Herradura Bay to the North, and Playa Hermosa to the South. At about 15 miles north of Jacó, lies the Carara National Park, recognized for its exuberant wildlife and dense rain forest. Carara is home to one of the largest remaining populations of wild Scarlet Macaw in the country. Jacó has quickly grown to become an important tourist destination and can be considered one of the country's most developed coastal cities. Its natural beauty, proximity to San Jose, and the challenging surf attracts many international and local tourists. Jacó hosts many high quality hotels and restaurants. As well as several bars, nightclubs and discos, which make up Jaco's very active night life.




Arenal Volcano and Hot Springs: For Puntarenas/Jaco Area Hotels

Departure: 6:30am Duration: This is a full day tour. With an early departure, a transportation service will pick you up from your hotel and drive 3.5 hours to the Jaco tour site, Your road trip through the central valley and wind through the stunning mountain range. As you drive through the quaint villages, pastoral scenery,cloud forest vegetation and other picturesque views, your guide will tell you all about what you see. You will spend the day in presence of our most active volcano famous for its incredible eruptions, lava streams, and incandescent rock explosions, reminiscent of firework display., During this tour you will explore the tropical gardens and relax in the hot springs which have temperatures as high as 102 degrees. You will return to your hotel feeling relaxed and in touch with nature. Your tour operatoe will arrange transportation back to your accomodation facility. What to Bring: Swimsuit, Towel,light comfortable clothing and shoes, light jacket and sunblock.

Canopy Tour, Los Suenos: For Puntarenas/Jaco Area Hotels

Departures: 8am,10am,1pm, or 3pm. (Please Note- Tour times are based on availability,) Duration: This tour is 3 hours long Minimum of 2 people for this tour, This canopy is a project designed not only as an extreme adventure, but a way to enjoy nature without harming the environment; our property boasts spectacular views of the Herradura bay and Island, as well as the Nicoya Gulf. Within the property, you will have the opportunity to view the Scarlet Macaws, Chestnut mandible Toucans and white faced monkeys. The property rests on 80 acres of land. (50% which is primary forest, where the canopy is located). The adventure starts on a 15 minute ride aboard our specially designed 40 passenger tractor. Once we arrive to the top of the mountain we then descend to the bottom via a series of zip lines, including 15 platforms and 14 cables with a total cable distance of 3.5 kilometer including the longest cable in the area of 2400 ft. What to Bring: Light comfortable clothing, walking shoes, long pants, sun block, camera and binoculars.

Carara National Park: For Puntarenas/Jaco Area Hotels

Departure: 8am Duration: This tour is 4 hours long. Minimum of 2 people for this tour, The tour operator will provide transportation that will pick you up from your lodging establishment and drive 20 minutes to Carrara National Park. This incredible protected area measures about 4,000 Hectares and is home to about 48 % of Costa Rica's aviary species. This Jaco tour will show you the importance of this region, as it is situated in a transitional region between the tropical dry forest and the humid pacific rainforest. This Jaco tour showcases colorful species of flora and fauna from a varied ecosystem. You will be able to spot the Scarlet Macaw, collared Aracau and various monkey specimens, At the end of this Jaco tour, your operator will arrange transportation to take you back to your hotel. What to Bring: Light comfortable clothing, walking shoes, sun block, insect repellant, hat, camera, and binoculars.

Catamaran Adventure: For Puntarenas/Jaco Area Hotels

Departure: 6am from the Doubletree Puntarenas hotel Duration: Tour is about 6.5 hours. Minimum of 4 people. Transportation will be provided by your tour operator to pick you up from your hotel. You will travel approximately 20 minutes to the Quepos dock. A guide will take you to the loading platform and help you board the catamaran. You will set sail towards the horizon and cruise over the sapphire hued waves. The catamaran will chart a picturesque course departing from Quepos gliding around the back of Manuel Antonio National Park. Your guide will point our notable wildlife and vegetation specimens, so be sure to have your camera ready, you will pass by panoramas adorned with islands, cliffs, and rock formations. You can admire aviary nesting grounds and marine wildlife. When we are finished, we will head back to the dock where there will be transportation to take you back to your hotel. What to Bring; Sunglasses, bathing suit, waterproof camera, sandals, and beach towel. Tour includes: Transportation, Guide, Snack & Lunch.
