Jennifer’s Costa Rica Experience! Pura Vida!

TRAVEL AGENTJennifer

PROPERTY/DESTINATION VISITED:  Santa Juana Rural Mountain Lodge, Costa Rica

WHEN YOU TRAVELED:  July/2018

WAS THERE EVER A POINT YOU DIDN’T FEEL SAFE: On the drive in, which I did myself, I would suggest using the transfer service we offer from Quepos and letting the lodge staff drive up the mountain. Once at the lodge, we felt like part of the family

AGENTS RATING:  5+ Stars

TYPE OF CLIENT RECOMMENDED FOR THIS PROPERTY:   Anyone looking for a real off the grid escape. Nature lovers, families, friends and couples looking for real connections to each other and the places that make the world such a special place to inhabit

FAVORITE PART OF MY JOB: Finding truly unique and different resorts and lodges with a history, or special charm and most importantly, a sense of place, and being able to make that an affordable reality for our clients.

BACKGROUND: I’ve been with Jetset Vacations since we opened our doors 8years ago, and I have 17 years of travel industry experience, from sales, to customer service, and currently product management. I’m an avid world traveler and have been since I was a kid – I have stamps in my passport from 6 continents. I am all about the journey and soaking in everything I can along the way.

Restaurants: The lodge kitchen staffed by Dona Roxana and Dona Julia who are both amazing cooks, the food is simple, fresh and local, and we never went hungry. They’ll even teach you how to make tortillas and empanadas if you want.

Pools:  There is no pool, but there is a freshwater swimming hole with a gorgeous waterfall

Activities:  You can visit the local school and the small village, gorgeous rainforest hiking trails, a traditional sugar cane press. They also offer a fantastic tour of a coffee plantation owned by a local family, as well as access to zip lines and excursions to nearby Manuel Antonio National Park and its famous jungle lined beaches

Drinks:  They offer different fresh juices, coffee and hot chocolate included in the room rates. Wine is available for purchase, and you’re welcome to bring in anything else you might want.

Wi-Fi:  The main lodge has limited wi-fi connectivity (a small donation to the school applies), but part of the lodge’s appeal and mission is to open the door for personal conversation, and create connections between travelers, the villagers, and your group.

Accommodations: The lodge rooms are gorgeous – local wood throughout, a full kitchen and huge balcony with traditional rocking chairs and a hammock. The sectional sofa can be converted into additional bedding if needed. They have tv’s with DVDs for rent (again, small donation to the school) Your neighbors are the toucans that come to roost daily in the trees. Ceiling fans provided ample temperature control, there is no a/c, but its not needed in this area. The views are beyond spectacular.
